Beneficiaries of the St. Paddy’s Day 5K

The Naperville Sunrise Rotary Foundation is a 501c3 not-for profit organized totally by volunteer philanthropists.  It is a separate legal entity from the Naperville Sunrise Rotary and has it’s own budget.  100% of our money raised by the race and other foundation projects goes to other charities and causes.

This year’s race is supporting the National Alliance on Mental Illness of DuPage County (“NAMI DuPage”) and its early intervention program called Ending the Silence. This program helps teens learn to recognize the early warning signs of mental illness and what to do if they or someone they know is exhibiting these signs.  In the last academic year this program reached more than 19,000 students across DuPage county, including close to 6,000 in Naperville.  For more information about NAMI DuPage and the Ending the Silence program, go to http://namidupage.org/programs-and-services/youth-community-outreach/.

About National Alliance on Mental Illness DuPage

Established in 1985, NAMI DuPage is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit mental health organization that is dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and families in DuPage County that are affected by mental illness. The organization has evolved into the county’s leading voice on mental health issues by providing vital resources and free support and educational programs to individuals and families coping with mental disabilities including support groups, one-on- one peer counseling, drop-in centers, and a resource helpline.

NAMI DuPage also raises awareness and understanding about mental illness through community education programs, directed to law enforcement, hospital staff, faith-based organizations, libraries, schools, and behavioral hospital in-patient units (in partnership with all six DuPage County hospitals). In addition, NAMI DuPage offers three new programs for individuals living with mental illness pertaining to job readiness, social/recreation and a crisis stabilization alternative to hospital emergency room treatment known as the Living Room. In 2016, NAMI DuPage served more than 33,000 unduplicated individuals.
